The highlight of today’s PS Store update would be the kickoff of the PSN Summer Blast sale, a multi-week event that discounts games all across the network. A wide selection of games have been discounted up to 60% for regular members, and up to 80% for the same items for PS Plus subscribers.
As for the store update, two new full PS3 games, Bladestorm: The Hundred Years’ War ($19.99) and Tour De France 2013 100th Edition ($49.99), are now available. MLB The Show: Home Run Derby is now on the PSN for $5.99. And there’s even more. Catch the full update here.

PlayStation Access TV has published a video giving a rundown of how PS Plus will work on the PS4. Officially, it’s known that a PS Plus subscription, aside from giving access to free games and content, is required to use online multiplayer and that PS4 content will be automatically available for current subscribers. The video has more to see, so it’s definitely worth checking out.
While auto-updates on the PS3 went hand-in-hand with PlayStation Plus, there will be a wall of separation on the PS4. SCEE UK & Ireland MD Fergal Gera at E3 said that “the social features of PS4 and PS4 games sit out of the subscription service.” And although a PS Plus sub is required for online multiplayer (depending on the publisher of the free-to-play game), auto-updates and video streaming services like Netflix and Hulu will be separate.
An annual PS Plus subscription will run you $50 when the PS4 is released this holiday season.

Following tomorrow’s PSN update, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to grab BioShock 2 for free. In addition, the Rockstar Game Collection 1 (includes Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, L.A. Noire and Midnight Club: Los Angeles Complete Edition) will be discounted 10% ($53.99), and Puddle will be available for 50% off at $3.50 for the PS3 and $2.50 for the Vita.
In honor of the launch of PlayStation Plus on the Vita, Sony’s announced the PS Plus Instant Game Collection Vita Bundle. For just $299.99, the bundle includes a Vita 3G-WiFi system (no, this must be a lie), a 1 year subscription to PS Plus, a voucher for Unit 13, and a 4 GB memory card. PS3 users are also enticed to buy this bundle as in addition to a brand new Vita, the 1-year subscription can also be added on to a member’s current subscription.
While the Xbox 360 sold 750,000 units on Black Friday, Sony’s Black Friday sale also proved to be a success (a highly needed one), with the company moving over 525,000 PS3s and 160,000 Vitas (finally, some more positives for the handheld). On the shopping holiday, PS3 bundle sales increased by 15%, while total hardware, software, and peripheral sales increased too. Sony attributed the success to the Ultimate PlayStation Value Bundle, which included a 250GB PS3 and the Uncharted Dual Pack and inFAMOUS Collection for $199, and “Quickly sold out at retailers across the U.S.”
The Vita, which really needed the boost in sales numbers, also managed to move units off store shelves. The Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation bundle sold out at retail in less than five hours, while the Black Ops: Declassified and Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes Bundles were gone by week’s end. Also, PlayStation Plus subscriptions jumped by 259% compared to last Black Friday’s number.
Well done, Sony.
If you haven’t upgraded already, you should know that Sony’s released the 2.0 firmware update for the Vita, which brings the beloved PlayStation Plus to the handheld. In addition to that, the update also adds the ability to use the web browser while in-game, and wireless PC syncing (transfer content between your PC, PS3, and Vita). An Email app is now on the home screen, and the Maps app can now show weather information.
Also, Turkish has been added as a language, and players can now choose how they’d like to be alerted by a notification.
Yep, that’s right. Starting on November 7, PS Plus subscribers will be able to grab the FPS for free.
That is all.
