Here’s more Uncharted movie news — not that it’s getting any closer to being released (or even made at that). In an interview with IGN, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg said that Naughty Dog did ask them more than once to write the script for the movie, which has been stuck in film hell since mid-2007.
According to the two, they turned down the offer as they didn’t know how to bring it to the big screen. Regarding their reasoning, Goldberg said “It’s just going to be Indiana Jones. If we could figure out a way to make it not Indiana Jones, it’d be awesome.”
A LOT of names have been attached and removed from the project: David O. Russell, Mark Wahlberg, Avi Arad, Joshua Oppenheimer, Neil Burger and Marianne and Cormac Wibberley. There have been multiple scripts and rewrites. Some fans have even taken up the task of making the movie themselves over at the IGN boards.
Will we ever get an Uncharted movie?
Remember that mysterious WeareData site for Watch Dogs that was discovered a couple of days ago? Well now it’s live. Turns out it’s “an experiential website designed to gather and graph the publicly available data that govern people’s lives in a single location.” Continue reading
If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on Gran Turismo 6, then get excited for a hands-on as the game’s demo will be released next Tuesday, July 2. And guess what? The demo is free and doesn’t require that you’ve owned any Gran Turismo product.
Also, if you happen to live in a GT Academy region, then you have a chance at racing with a real Nissan GT-R GT3 NISMO.
“GT Academy in the United States, along with Russia and Germany, will each have standalone qualifying contests to designate the countries’ top Gran Turismo drivers. Europe’s 2013 Academy includes France, Italy, UK, Spain, Portugal, Benelux, Nordics (Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway) and CEE (Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia). The winners of each of the GT Academy competitions will then be put through an incredibly intensive and thorough Driver Development Program, rated among the best in the world, in order to qualify for the ultimate competition prize – a full season racing a Nissan GT-R GT3 NISMO in a top-level championship.
‘GT Academy is testament to why Gran Turismo is the true racing simulator,’ said Asad Qizilbash, senior director of product marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America. ‘The PlayStation community has proven time and time again that Gran Turismo’s racing mechanics translate to the real world of race car driving, with racers who first cut their teeth racing in Gran Turismo now competing on the world stage. We encourage gamers of all skill levels to enter the contest, not just to be among the first to play Gran Turismo 6, but also for a chance to turn their driving passion into a career in the race world.'”
The contest ends on August 31, but the demo will still be available after that.
You guys ready?
The Gran Turismo 6 15th Anniversary Edition was revealed yesterday along with regular pre-order bonuses. Ordering from GameStop would net you 20 special cars (among other bonuses), while going with Amazon will bring with it $1 million in in-game credits and four bonus cars. So if you can’t decide where to pre-order GT6 from, Polyphony Digital has released a pre-order trailer for Amazon, showing off just what you could do with $1 million in cold, hard, virtual cash. You can place your order at Amazon here.
Just a heads up. Routine PSN maintenance will be carried out from 12:30PM EST (9:30AM PST) to 7PM EST (4PM PST). The PlayStation Store, PS Home and account management will be inaccessible during the time period, but online play will still be available ONLY IF you sign in before maintenance starts (so sign in, now).

A Best Buy listing has revealed that a season pass for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be available for $20, and will make the assassin Adewale, Edward Kenway’s first mate, the star of the story. According to the listing, the DLC will “take you even deeper into the real explosive events of the Golden Age of Pirates.” The $20 pass will include both single and multiplayer content, “a $20 savings off the regular price” for both. All I can say is: DLC five months before the game will actually be available?
